Economic impact of calf health
Health losses due to disease and early calf mortality represent a significant challenge for dairy farms. In this context, this project aims to better understand the economic impact of calf diseases and to identify the most advantageous management practices for dairy producers. By participating in this study, you will contribute to the development of knowledge applicable to Quebec dairy farms.
Goals

To estimate health losses in dairy calves in the Lower St. Lawrence by measuring the impact of diseases and early mortality.

Evaluate the costs associated with the use of medications on participating farms.

Identify the health practices and treatments that offer the best ratio between the costs incurred and the improvement in calf health.

One Health
Evaluate the health relationships between the different species that coexist on dairy farms, based on the principles of the "One Health" approach.

Support for better antibiotic use
Monitoring and evaluation of antimicrobial use in dairy farms, both in cows and calves.
