BECOMING A MEMBER
Individuals interested in joining Op+lait (as regular members or collaborators) must submit their CV as well as a short letter of motivation describing, in a few sentences, their research interests and how these relate to the Op+lait cluster’s research axes.
The application will be submitted to the Executive Committee, which will review the request during one of its monthly meetings.
Please note that if you are supervised by an active member (regular or collaborator) and wish to become a student member of the cluster, you do not need to submit a complete application. You simply need to notify Josée Labrie by email.

Regular members
A regular member is a university-based researcher or a college researcher who contributes significantly to the implementation of the cluster’s scientific program. A researcher is considered a regular member if their level of involvement in the cluster is 50% or more. Regular members are appointed by the Executive Committee upon recommendation from the axis leaders.
Collaborating members
A collaborating member is a university-based researcher or a college researcher who contributes occasionally or on an ad hoc basis to the implementation of the cluster’s scientific program. A researcher is considered a collaborating member if their level of involvement in the cluster is 49% or less. Researchers with governmental, industrial, visiting, or out-of-Québec status are also considered collaborating members. They are appointed by the Executive Committee upon recommendation from the axis leaders.
Student members
A student member is a master’s, doctoral, or postdoctoral trainee in a field related to the cluster’s scientific program and supervised by an active member (regular or collaborator) of the cluster.

Researchers within the cluster
The Op+lait cluster is composed of two (2) categories of researchers in accordance with the FRQ guidelines in effect for the 2024-2025 competition, as well as student members.
Privileges and obligations
The cluster expects active participation from all its members in its activities.
Members commit to providing, diligently and within established deadlines, all data required by the governing bodies to ensure the proper functioning of the cluster.
Change of status
In the event of a decrease in involvement, a regular member may request, or be invited by the Director, to become a collaborating member. In the event of an increase in involvement, a collaborating member may request, or be invited by the Director, to become a regular member. The Director may, following a recommendation from the Executive Committee, terminate the status of a regular or collaborating member whose involvement or research activities no longer meet the cluster’s criteria.
