Op+lait Scientific Meeting | Mammary Gland, Milk | Galactinnov
Saint-Haycinthe (Québec) October 15-16, 2025
The annual Op+lait 2025 scientific meeting, combined this year with the “Mammary Gland, Milk - Galactinnov” event, took place in Saint-Hyacinthe on October 15 and 16. As on other occasions, colleagues from France made the trip to join us. Part of the meeting was offered via videoconference.
The first day featured a rich program of conferences on the effects of global warming on milk stability and the well-being of cows and producers. The following day was devoted to microbiology and epidemiology, two central themes for our scientific community.

Mammary Gland, Milk | Galactinnov
Tours (France) 10-11 octobre 2024
On October 10 and 11, a second meeting of the Galactinnov Research Network was held in Tours (France).
Seven Op+lait members had the opportunity to travel to the meeting and meet with colleagues from INRAE at the “Mammary Gland, Milk” meeting, where a variety of topics related to the mammary gland, milk quality, and cow welfare were discussed over the course of two days.
The Quebec delegation-which included representatives from Université de Montréal (Mariana Fonseca, postdoctoral researcher), Université Laval (Eric Paquet, professor, and Myriam Landry, doctoral student), Université de Sherbrooke (Guillaume Millette, postdoctoral researcher), and McGill University (Elsa Vasseur, professor)—alongside Simon Dufour (director of Op+lait and professor at Université de Montréal) and Daryna Kurban (doctoral student, Université de Montréal) who participated via videoconference, presented six research projects.

Op+lait - Galactinnov Scientific Meeting
On October 17 and 18, 2023, the annual Op+lait meeting took place, combined with the “Mammary Gland, Milk / Galactinnov” meeting.
The event was a great success: some 110 people attended the conferences on both sides of the Atlantic, which led to interesting discussions, strengthened existing collaborations, and forged new friendships that will lead to future innovative projects in the field of dairy production, animal welfare, and infectious diseases.
INRAE members who traveled to Quebec were able to visit Laval University and its facilities with Denis Roy, Op+lait member responsible for Axis 3 and Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences at Laval University, and Mérilie Gagon, postdoctoral researcher, as well as the University of Sherbrooke and Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada's Sherbrooke Research and Development Center.

90th ACFAS CONFERENCE. Op+lait Symposium “Let's make way for the next generation of milk quality researchers!”
Anaïs Bompard, PhD, INRAE, was the guest speaker at the Op+lait Symposium during the 90th ACFAS Congress, held at the University of Montreal on May 9, 2023, at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Saint-Hyacinthe.

On November 7 and 8, a second meeting of the Galactinnov Research Network was held in Rennes (France).
Seven members of Op+lait had the opportunity to make the trip and meet with colleagues from INRAE at the “Mammary Gland, Milk - Galactinnov” meeting, where a variety of topics related to the mammary gland, milk quality, and cow welfare were discussed over the course of two days. The Quebec delegation—with representatives from Université de Montréal (Ahmad Albaaj, postdoctoral fellow), Université Laval (Rachel Gervais, professor, Mérilie Gagnon, postdoctoral fellow) and McGill University (Lucie Auzanze, PhD student), including Op+lait's director, Professor Simon Dufour—alongside other members from Université de Sherbrooke, Université de Montréal, and Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada who participated via videoconference, presented eight research projects.

Op+lait Scientific Meeting
The 2022 Op+lait annual meeting was held on October 18 in Drummondville, Quebec. Pierre Germon, a researcher at INRAE Val de Loire in Nouzilli and head of the “Bacterial Infections and Immunity in Ruminants” team, was the guest speaker. In his presentation, he discussed the O antigen and its role in combating mastitis caused by E. coli.
While in Quebec, Pierre Germon also gave a lecture at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the Université de Montréal. In this case, he discussed the role of epithelial cells and macrophages in infections.

Forum Galactinnov
The first Galactinnov meeting took place online on November 17 and 24, 2020. It was a discussion forum to initiate the Network's work, with the aim of finding collaborations around proposed topics for discussion on research themes.

Op+lait Scientific Meeting
In 2019, Op+lait organized a meeting in collaboration with the French National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food, and the Environment (INRAE) to formalize their desire to work together. The meeting took place on November 21 and 22, 2019, in Saint-Hyacinthe. Several INRAE representatives attended to present an overview of the work carried out at their respective institutions.
